Test Tube Baby Process- Everything You Need To Know

Sometimes a man’s sperm is not fertile enough to produce a baby. There are several other factors that put basis for the invention of this artificial method of child birth. In many cases, a man’s sperm is not strong enough to penetrate the women’s egg. In natural process of birth, it would but here when it doesn’t, what to do then? It is difficult for a couple to live without a child and especially when a man is able to produce a child. Only problem his sperm is facing is that it can’t penetrate the women’s egg due to some weakness in it. That’s why in 1978 this Test Tube Baby Process was invented and it is running successfully till now. So what is this process and how does it work? Read the full information about it in this article. So, keep reading ahead to know about the process.

What is a Test Tube Baby Process?

In vitro fertilization is the medical that is used for the process. This is basically an artificial method of producing a baby. In this method, male sperm is entered in the woman eggs by taking them out through a planned procedure. This takes about more than a month of clinical procedure. In most parts of the world it is being done in the same manner. It might change though depending upon the clinic and also the knowledge of the doctor. We will tell you the standard procedure that is being used in the test tube baby process. This method is taken by a couple when they are not able to produce a baby naturally. Men are the main reason behind this because it is their sperm that is weak to penetrate the eggs. Thus, leading the couple to the decision of going for this test tube baby process.

Test Tube Baby Step by Step Procedure:

Here is a step by step guide on how the process is done.

1. Natural menstrual cycles are suppressed:

First step is to suppress the menstrual cycles of the women by using drugs. These drugs are given for 2 weeks at least resulting in the suppression of the natural MS. These drugs are injected by the means of injections.

2. Production of more eggs:

This method in which more eggs are being produced is called Super Ovulation. In this step, women are given different fertility drugs. These drugs contain fertility stimulation hormone or FSH which increases the production of eggs. Number of eggs produced in the woman’s body starts increasing. In the ovaries, more eggs are produced due to the injection of these FSH drugs. Ultrasound scans for vagina can be used to monitor what’s happening inside. The inside activity and how much the eggs are producing? All this can be and should be monitored by doing vaginal ultrasound.

3. Eggs are then retrieved from Ovaries:

Once there are more number of eggs being produced, they are then retrieved from the place. This method or surgical procedure that is used to retrieve the eggs is known as Follicular Aspiration. In this method, the eggs are taken out from the ovaries by penetration through vagina. This is done by entering a thin needle from the vagina. This needle enters the ovary through vagina and the suction process of eggs starts. The job of this needle is to suck out the eggs from the ovary and bring them back out. The average and the recommended number of eggs through many studies is 15. Experts suggest that 15 eggs are good to be taken out for the better process and success rates. This increases the chances of a good and healthy baby birth.

4. Fertilization and Insemination of Egg and Sperm:

4th step in this process is to provide the eggs and male sperm an environment where they can fuse with each other. This is being done by using an environmentally controlled chamber. Both the male sperm and eggs are placed together in that chamber closer to each other. This is being done in controlled conditions for the better results. The doctors then awaits and within few hours the male sperm enters automatically enters the egg. If it doesn’t happens automatically or if doctors want to save time, then they would do for the direct method. This method goes by the name Intra-cytoplasmic Sperm Injection. In this process, the sperm is directly injected into the eggs but that could go expensive. That’s why this is mostly done in the environmentally controlled chamber.

It doesn’t matter really whether we are using a fresh sperm or a frozen one. Because in a report presented to the doctors, frozen sperm works exactly as the fresh one. After the fusion of the two things is done, fertilized egg has to become an embryo later which it does.

5. Transferring the embryo:

5th and the last step in this procedure is the transferring and placing of embryo. Embryo produced in the 4th step is then needed to be placed in the womb. Here comes a matter of discussion between the doctors and parents. And that is the number of embryos to be placed in the womb. Most of the times, it is better to place more than one because you don’t know what is the ideal condition here. Placing more embryos increase the chances of success rates and also, a medically healthy baby.

Now you would want to know how this transfer is done. Well this happens by means of a thin tube that is entered from vagina into the womb. This thin tube contains our embryo which is needed to be place in the womb. This tube successfully places the embryo or embryos in the womb and you’re done. Place embryos in such a way that it remains stuck to the lining of the womb. That is important if you want your child to be born healthier. After all these steps are done, wait for a new guest in your happy family.

Does Test Tube Baby Process really work?

This process was meant to be successful. It is a great invention of science and has produced a lot of children. According to a statistical report, more than 5 million babies took birth using the process of IVF. This shows that how good this technique is. First test tube was produced in 1978 and has become a successful process after that. We will also share a success chart of this process in the coming headings. In case you are having problems producing a baby naturally then you can definitely rely on this technique.

Why multiple embryos are effective?

As I have already discussed in the procedure that placing more embryos increases the chances of success. That’s because doctor can’t have a good idea whether how effective a single embryo is. If we place a single embryo and it is not good enough then we can ruin the process. Placing multiple embryos will lessen our doubts and increase the chances of the production of a healthy baby. This should be discussed by the parents and doctors before the placing the embryos. Multiple embryos increases the chances of multiple pregnancies that’s why most people fear this too.

Test Tube Baby success rates:

This process has a really good success rates which are presented in the following charts. These charts are published by Assisted Reproductive technologies and the results are quite amazing.

  1. Success ratio in the younger women is greater than all. By younger, I mean the women who are below the age of 35. They have a success ratio of 41-43 percent according to ART.
  2. This ratio differs when the age of women is 35-37. The success ratio between these ages is 33 to 36 percent which is quite less than before the age of 35.
  3. The ratio further decreases when the women become of 38 to 40. The success ratio in this case is only 23 to 27 percent.
  4. The least value of the success ratio comes after the aged of 41 when the women become aged. The least percentage value of success of test tube baby process in this age is only 13 to 17 percent which is very less.

Also, it depends upon the health of women. A research shows that the women with good amount of Vitamin D in their body have higher success rates. Healthier a woman is, better are the chances of test tube baby success.

In Vitro Fertilization Risks:

Though this is a very helpful technology but still it has its own risks. One of the major risks that appear with this process is the multiple pregnancy. This might occur due to many reasons. Some women may take more effect of the drugs and the fertility process goes stronger. This is one of the reasons for multiple pregnancy. Also, placing more than one embryos in the womb can also cause this trouble of multiple pregnancy. These are the certain risks that are involved in In vitro fertilization.

Some conditions when In vitro fertilization won’t work:

Doctors have laid down a list of multiple causes and cases in which the IVF won’t work. These causes are mentioned here with some detail. So in case you match any of them, it is better that you don’t waste your money and time.

There are some particular kind of gene where in vitro fertilization won’t work. A unique gene is uterus of some female may lead to the failure in implantation. That could be one of the cases where this process might now work for some people.

These tests we conducted on different women. Those women which had this particular gene structure lead to the failure. On off spring was produced while the women who produced an off spring had completely gene structure from these ladies. Statistically the number of these women who failed to do proper implantation were 80 percent of the specific gene structure.

Embryo quality is another of the many factors that may lead to the failure of production. Some embryos might be so weak due to heredity or genetic factors that they are totally unavailable to produce an heir. This may also occur due to the chromosome difference that led to its weakness. Though there are many methods by which the quality of the embryo can be enhances. These methods would require a good some of money plus, a good doctor with a good experience of it. Once the quality of embryo has been improved, you can go for the method.

So it is necessary that before you decide to use this method to have baby, make sure that you are able to do that and I mean genetically. Pre-test will save your money and time if you could know whether you are able to produce or not.

IVF Device to assist Natural Fertilization:

One of the side effects that appear in the babies is the low weight after the production through IVF. Since this method includes the production of babies through a scientific method not natural. Now this is a matter of real concern because this low weight problems could also cause life time problems. So to overcome this problem, scientists are working on a new device that could help them overcome this problem. Name of the device is ‘AneVivo’. Working procedure of this gadget will be like putting both sperm and the egg in close vicinity vessel for 24 hours. This gadget is then removed from the place and the embryo gets multiple coating. This will increase the chances of producing a baby and a health one. There still are things that scientists need to figure out with this device while rest is certainly amazing.

Final Words:
