Muscle of UPPER LIMBS:

1. Muscles of the Upper Arm:
– Biceps Brachii: Located in the anterior compartment of the arm, the biceps brachii muscle is a two-headed muscle that flexes the elbow and supinates the forearm.
– Triceps Brachii: Situated in the posterior compartment of the arm, the triceps brachii muscle is a three-headed muscle that extends the elbow.

2. Muscles of the Forearm:
– Anterior Compartment:
– Flexor Digitorum Superficialis: This muscle flexes the fingers (digits) at the proximal interphalangeal joints.
– Flexor Digitorum Profundus: Situated deep to the flexor digitorum superficialis, this muscle flexes the fingers at the distal interphalangeal joints.
– Flexor Carpi Radialis: Located on the lateral side of the forearm, this muscle flexes and abducts the wrist.
– Flexor Carpi Ulnaris: Situated on the medial side of the forearm, this muscle flexes and adducts the wrist.
– Posterior Compartment:
– Extensor Digitorum: This muscle extends the fingers at the metacarpophalangeal, proximal interphalangeal, and distal interphalangeal joints.
– Extensor Carpi Radialis Longus and Brevis: These muscles extend and abduct the wrist.
– Extensor Carpi Ulnaris: Situated on the medial side of the forearm, this muscle extends and adducts the wrist.

3. Muscles of the Shoulder:
– Deltoid: The deltoid muscle forms the rounded contour of the shoulder and is responsible for various movements, including shoulder abduction, flexion, extension, and rotation.
– Rotator Cuff Muscles: The rotator cuff is comprised of four muscles: supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, and subscapularis. These muscles work together to stabilize the shoulder joint and assist in various movements.

4. Muscles of the Hand:
– Thenar Muscles: Located at the base of the thumb, the thenar muscles include the abductor pollicis brevis, flexor pollicis brevis, and opponens pollicis. They contribute to thumb movements.
– Hypothenar Muscles: Situated at the base of the little finger, the hypothenar muscles include the abductor digiti minimi, flexor digiti minimi brevis, and opponens digiti minimi. They contribute to movements of the little finger.
– Interossei Muscles: These muscles are located between the metacarpal bones in the hand. They contribute to finger abduction and adduction.

Upper Limbs Muscle limbs Mnemonics:

mnemonics are helpful memory aids but should not replace a thorough understanding of anatomy and muscle function. It’s important to study and understand the location, actions, and innervation of the muscles in the upper limbs.
